Transportation

Transportation is a basic social and economic need. Providing affordable choices to meet these needs is an important responsibility of government. However, many of the solutions conceived during the early and mid-20th century are no longer economically or environmentally sustainable today. High Road Strategy Center works to promote transportation solutions that reduce waste, create high-road jobs for those who need it most, build overall community wealth, and benefit the environment.

State Smart Transportation Initiative

Working with CEOs at state DOTs, the State Smart Transportation Initiative (SSTI) promotes practices that promote environmental sustainability and equitable economic development while maintaining high standards of governmental efficiency and transparency.

Research

Often overlooked, access to transportation is a critical component of the high road. High Road Strategy Center’s research focuses on how state and local agencies shape the possibilities for access to jobs, healthcare, recreation, and more, with an emphasis on implementing policies that focus on equity, emissions reductions, and safety.
