In 2010, the Department of Energy launched the biggest and most ambitious energy efficiency retrofit effort in the history of this country. The Better Buildings program is a roughly $500 million initiative to develop sustainable energy efficiency building upgrade programs for home and building owners. They are sponsoring 41 state and local programs across the country, each selected for their innovative approaches to program design and delivery. After two years, these programs are showing real results, and sharing a lot of interesting data.
