Welcoming Friends and Neighbors: A Positive Approach to Increasing Opportunity for Wisconsins Immigrants

In the current climate of fear and misinformation regarding immigrants, something very important is lost. The United States is a nation of immigrants and the new immigrants are our friends, neighbors and coworkers. Rather than build walls and cast suspicion, we need to build bridges and provide support.

The Workers’ Rights Center and the Center on Wisconsin Strategy (COWS) invite the community to engage in the discussion of local, actionable solutions to better support immigrant workers in our community. A brief panel will kick off the event to highlight workers’ experiences and explore locally-rooted strategies to improve working conditions and expand access to quality education and jobs for immigrant workers in the Madison area. Themes from the recent report by COWS, Increasing Skills and Opportunity for Wisconsin’s Immigrants, will provide the background. Then facilitated small groups will allow share ideas and build connections to further positive solutions.
