Briant Novinska-Lois

Briant Novinska-Lois is a Transportation Partnership Specialist with the State Smart Transportation Initiative. A fifth-generation Madisonian, his journey into the planning field was shaped by early life experiences that revealed the critical impact transportation systems have on creating opportunities for underserved communities. His passion for equitable transportation solutions has been further developed through academic study — he earned a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Utah and a bachelor’s degree in Community Engagement and Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee — and practical experience as an Urban Planner at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, where he focused on environmental justice and economic development. In his free time, he enjoys long-distance running, rock climbing, and exploring the world and other ways of life, with the Republic of Georgia being his favorite destination so far.
